Cutaneous Melanoma in White Americans: A Tale of Two Epidemics.

Abstract

In the United States and elsewhere, the incidence of thin and in situ melanoma relative to that of thick melanoma is increasing, yet mortality rates have remained largely stable. Kurtansky et al. (2021) used Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results data to examine the divergent trends between incidence and mortality, seeking evidence for possible overdiagnosis.
