The first B-ring 5,6-secosteroid isolated from plants was obtained from Frankenia foliosa, growing in Australia's arid zone. This rare secosteroid was shown to be active against all cell lines including head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) cancer cell lines that contain the Cdc25A phosphatase protein.
